Your Birmingham chapter of the American Red Cross facilitates many kinds of courses, classes, and training sessions designed to help you, your family, and your community. First aid, CPR, and related courses are listed under Health and Safety. If you need training to become a certified Red Cross volunteer during times of disaster, please view Disaster Training. Finally, click on Community Education if you’d like more information about our programs designed for schools and workplaces.

It is important that you register for any course as far in advance as possible. If we do not have enough people sign up for the class, it will likely be rescheduled. Course venue and times are subject to change. Where noted, self-study or online courses are available for some subjects.

The American Red Cross is an organization that is dependent upon volunteers. During a disaster response volunteers have large roles in every aspect of a relief operation. From running shelters to operating a mobile feeding unit, volunteers make our work possible. In order to facilitate this, the American Red Cross offers training courses that prepare volunteers to work in disaster services roles.

Prevent,

Prepare,

Recover.

The Red Cross provides schools and workplaces with training and instruction in a variety of topics including preparing an emergency kit for your family, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, and many more.
